Had you asked me a couple days ago what I would be doing today, I would have said “What I do every Sunday. Play piano for two Masses, probably visit in a care facility, read.” Some inches of snow on the roads and the car yanked me from my normal routine. I cleared the car and sidewalk and then walked in our 95 acres of white delight, hoping I wouldn’t have to wait another three years for such beauty. After three winters of disuse, kids pulled out sleds. Families gathered for ice skating. Cocoa in hand, others sat to watch a movie. A little thrill rippled inside me. While I guard against calling any day boring, I love the miniature ripples oozing away from “same old, same old,” especially when they yank me out of normalcy.
