Saint Paul really liked the Philippians, always thanking God for them and praying for them with “joy” and being in “partnership in the gospel” (Phil. 1:3). Paul is even confident that God who began a good work in them “will go on completing it until the Day of Jesus Christ.” Well, if this is true for the Philippians, can’t it be true of you and me? I believe God is “completing” me because I’m still here writing this blog. Maybe blogging is my ministry to bring about God’s Kingdom. Maybe a thought in this blog is having a positive impact on your spirituality. At least I think blogging has an impact on mine. Sometimes it’s a penance, a sacrifice of time. Often it’s humbling when I can’t get a thought in my head. Sometimes it might even be transformative for me. Transformation into Christ. Isn’t that what we all desire? It’s our life’s meaning and purpose. On good days we even might be aware that God is doing good work in us. I learned early in life that God can do anything. I believed it then, and I still do. Today I promise myself that I will be open to a contemplative experience of God’s love; I will trust in the Spirit’s praying in me and transforming me into Christ. And tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow I will try to do the same thing. Why don’t you try it too? Then together we will go on completing the work we are to do until it’s completed “for the glory and praise of God” (Phil. 1:11).

I like the song, “He who began a good work you will be faithful to complete it…”
