A lively hymn by Francis Patrick O’Brien titled “Come to the Feast” could easily become a parody for other occasions besides church settings. We hunger and thirst for other feasts than the Eucharistic banquet. At this time of year, Ohio and states to the north witness God’s artwork in the foliage. It’s fascinating to see a tree all green one day, half green and half red the next day with symmetrical precision, and then entirely red within the week. What a feast of color! The window calls “Come to the Feast.” I can’t ignore the invitation. My RSVP states “I will gladly come for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
