“Come along in our Company”

After God revealed the God self to Moses as gracious, slow to anger and rich in kindness, Moses worshiped and offered God an invitation: “Do come along in our company.” Reading this, I felt a bit aghast at such a bold request. Would God really want to come along with such stiff-necked people? The audacity of Moses! Yet how warm, how close the invitation! Future centuries would see this God as the maker of the universe, someone eager to send his Son and be one of us. But do we invite God to come along in our company? Ask God to come along in your company. Let God be in the passenger seat as your drive to work or store. Invite God to help in your house and yard. Let God enjoy your company today. And of course that’s mutual!
