Scripture shares several appearances of the Risen Lord: the women at the tomb, Mary Magdalene and other women who brought perfumed oil to anoint the body, the Eleven, the two on the road to Emmaus, and perhaps others not named. But Scripture does not mention an appearance to his mother Mary. Some claim that an appearance was not necessary because Mary had faith in the predictions of the Resurrection. Perhaps the meeting between Mother and Son was not recorded by any evangelist, because it was taken for granted that the Mother would sense the moment of Resurrection and not need a meeting. Or maybe the meeting, though known, was indescribable. It was enough to know that in Mary’s entirely unique holiness she served the Mystery of Redemption. In keeping with God’s plan Mary persevered in her union with her Son on the cross. She held his broken body, buried her Son in a borrowed tomb, and awaited the Resurrection in complete certitude. Having consented to God’s Will during her life, she consented to wait for her next step in cooperating with her Son’s work. Until then, she may have imagined the incredulity of the apostles, the surprise of the women, and her own tears of joy.

I think we all have wondered what the embrace of Jesus and Mary was like after the Resurrection.
Loved and wonderful Mary. The Resurrection was a part of her in her heart and she knew. Jesus embraced her in His Death and Resurrection.
