Don’t you love stories, novels, movies, TV shows that have good endings? There’s something satisfying when the main character achieves his goal, when the reader or viewer puts down the book or turns off the program feeling his own life has been made better for the experience. Time has a way of flying by in the holiday season. Before you know it, we’ll be singing “Auld Lang Syne” and partying in the new year. In the remaining weeks, consider “Has it been a good year? Will 2025 have a good ending?” It’s something to pray about; that is, to thank God, to express our contrition, to make plans for another year on which we can have some impact.
Many writers don’t decide on the ending. Rather they let the plot unfold, and the characters themselves form the ending. Similarly, we can write the book of 2026. We won’t know the ending, but we can make each day a “good beginning.” With 365 “good beginnings,” there will be a “good ending.”
