Meditating on Feet

Take the Precious Feet message to a higher level:

If you have seen the episode from The Chosen in which Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha, anoints the feet of Jesus, perhaps you felt with her the anxiety of all eyes upon you. You heard indignant whispers: “What a waste!” “Get her out of here.” “Doesn’t Jesus know who touches him?” Unknown to the bystanders, Mary’s love is deeper than that of the aroma that fills the room.

Throughout this Holy Week we can meditate often with Christ’s anointed feet, his feet nailed to the cross, the feet that still today have his precious wounds: “O feet so blest, I give my costly best.”

Let us also remember in prayer the feet of the members of his Body. That’s all of us. Blistered feet of migrants, bloodied feet of soldiers, crushed feet, baby feet, athletic feet, feet without feeling, feet in constant pain, feet that dance, feet that march in demonstration, feet that rush to help, feet that walk through fields, feet that are washed in the liturgy of Holy Thursday.  “O feet so blest, may all your people give our costly best.”
