When I pray the rosary, I think of the meaning of the prayers (Hail Mary, Our Father). Or I think of the mystery of each decade (Resurrection, Ascension, and so on). Occasionally I wonder how Mary would reflect on each mystery, actual events that she and her Son Jesus lived. What would she ponder? Scripture says “Mary treasured all these things and reflected on them in her heart” (Lk. 2:19). What would be in a mother’s heart? What would be pondered as a lived, historical experience? As October, the month of the rosary, progresses, I will reflect on some mysteries as Mary may have pondered them. That is beyond any human’s capability, but it may suggest to the reader a way to pray the rosary.

The mysteries through Mary’s eyes is a good idea. We are so blessed that we grew up with the rosary even if I tell the students that we are in the records for the most distracted rosaries…and maybe even the fastest!
