What is the gift you bring this day?
Fr. Sam is an old monk … nearly 90. At Mass the priests each have an assigned portion of the Eucharistic prayer to pray aloud. I love hearing Fr. Sam read his part. It always brings a smile to my face and sometimes even tears to my eyes. There is such tenderness in his reading; one can tell it comes from the heart!
I continue to plow my way through the Rule of Benedict here at the monastery. Today’s portion of the Rule refers to each monastic having a specific task, even those who are experiencing weakness, illness, or old age. No one is useless. Everyone has a gift to bring, a contribution to make. What is the gift I bring today? What contribution will you make today? How will we be signs of faith, hope, love, and commitment this day?
